The province of Almería is becoming more and more popular, both as a wonderful holiday destination and as a beautiful place to live with an idyllic climate. Located on the south-eastern tip of the Iberian Peninsula by the Mediterranean Sea, with a coastline stretching over 200 km between Malaga and Alicante, the sun shines three thousand hours a year here, more than any other part of the Mediterranean Sea.

First-time visitors will be pleasantly surprised by just how much this province has to offer, and more and more people each year are discovering, not only the sun, lovely beaches and crystal-clear water, but also the natural beauty to be enjoyed in this part of Spain. This is a landscape of geographical contrasts, with long sandy beaches and small secluded coves, desert areas and fertile fields with varied vegetation and high mountains looking out over sweeping plains. It only takes about an hour to drive from the snow in Sierra Nevada to the only desert in Europe! One of the advantages associated with the Almeria coast is the region’s ability to combine the comfort of urban development with the scenic natural areas which have been left completely untouched.

As infrastructures in Europe continue to develop, with motorways which connect increasingly growing cities, and cut-price airlines competing with each other to see who can offer the lowest prices, the areas which were previously deemed to be a little too far off the beaten track are now being discovered. One such area which thoroughly deserves its increasing popularity is Costa de Almería.
